Most modern plastics are based on organic chemicals that offer manufacturers a huge range of physical properties that is still growing. There was a time when anything made of plastic was considered to be of inferior quality, but those days are past. You are probably wearing plastic right now, maybe a polyester/cotton mix garment or even glasses or a watch with plastic components. The versatility of plastic materials comes from the ability to mold, laminate or shape them and to tailor them physically and chemically. There is a plastic suitable for almost any application. Plastics dont corrode, though they can degrade in UV, a component of sunlight, and can be affected by solvents. PVC plastic, for example, is soluble in acetone. Plastics in the Home There is a huge percentage of plastic in your television, your sound system, your cell phone, and your vacuum cleaner and probably plastic foam in your furniture. What are you walking on? Unless your floor covering is real wood, it probably has a synthetic/natural fiber blend like some of the clothes you wear. Take a look in the kitchen and you might see a plastic chair or bar stool seats, plastic countertops (acrylic composites), plastic linings (PTFE) in your nonstick cooking pans, and plastic plumbing in your water system. Now open your refrigerator. The food might be wrapped in PVC cling film, your yogurt is probably in plastic tubs, cheese in plastic wrap, and water and milk in blow-molded plastic containers. There are plastics now that prevent gas from escaping pressurized soda bottles, but cans and glass are still No. 1 for beer. (For some reason, guys dont like to drink beer from plastic.) When it comes to canned beer, though, you will find that the inside of the can is often lined with a plastic polymer. Plastics in Transport Trains, planes, and automobiles, even ships, satellites, and space stations, use plastics extensively. We used to build ships from wood and planes from string (hemp) and canvas (cotton/flax). We had to work with the materials that nature provided, but no more—we now design our own materials. They arent good for the landfill, as many will persist for hundreds of years; when theyre incinerated, dangerous gases can be produced. Many supermarkets now give us one-use grocery bags; leave them in a cupboard long enough and all you will have left is dust because they are engineered to degrade. Perversely, some plastics can be cured (hardened) by UV, which shows how varied their formulas are. Additionally, because many plastics are based ultimately on crude oil, there is a continuous rise in the cost of raw materials that chemical engineers are trying to workaround. We now have biofuel for automobiles, and the feedstock for that fuel grows on the land. As this production increases, sustainable feedstock for the plastic industry will become more widely available. We are getting wiser, and now many plastics can be chemically, mechanically, or thermally recycled. We still must solve the disposal issue, which is being actively addressed through materials research, recycling policies, and enhanced public awareness.

Scientific Concept of Magnetism There are two essential requirements for generating a magnetic field which are magnetic material and current. The magnetic field is a region in which the magnetic effect due to electric current or of a magnet is precipitated. When small magnet is brought in the vicinity then torque will be experienced on the test magnet up to this magnet becomes oriented in a particular direction. The magnitude of this torque is nothing but measurement of the strength of the magnetic field and the shown direction of orientation which is the direction of the field. Magnetism means it is a physical phenomenon involving magnetic fields and whose effects upon materials. The magnetic fields may be set by electric currents or by magnets. In the magnetic material, the individual atoms cause magnetic fields when whose electrons have a net magnetic moment due to their angular momentum. Due to angular momentum of charged particle a magnetic moment arises whose cooperative effect acquires the macroscopic magnetic field of a permanent magnet. Hence only one kind of magnetism was known until 1821which was produced by iron magnets. It was proved that when an electric current flows in a wire then needle of compass moves nearby it. This new phenomenon was studied by Ampere, concluded that the nature of magnetism which was quite different from basically a force between electric currents. The two parallel currents which are in the same direction attract each other and on the other hand, the two parallel currents in opposite direction repel each other. According to the modern theory, magnetism in solids arises due to spins and orbital motion of electrons and also due to the spin of the nuclei of an atom. Due to motion of electrons, the magnetic effects produced in magnetic materials. The magnetic moments associated with the atoms are due to three types of motions which are, one is the electron orbital motion, second is the change in orbital motion caused by an external magnetic field and third one is the spin of the electrons. In most of the atoms the electrons occur in pairs. When electron pair spins in opposite directions then they cancel each other means there is no net magnetic fields exist. In magnetic materials with some unpaired electrons show a net magnetic field and which react more to an external field. The major contribution is due to spin of unpaired valance electrons in magnetic field of the magnetic materials. These unpaired valence electrons produce permanent electronic magnetic moments. The nature of magnetization produced depends on presence of the number of unpaired valence electrons in the atoms of the solid and on the relative orientations of the neighboring magne tic moments. For the generation of net non-zero magnetic moment, number of such magnetic dipoles may align parallel to each other, with or without the application of magnetic field. As a magnetic material is kept in a magnetic field then it becomes magnetized. It means that the material itself becomes a magnet. Hence the intensity of the induced magnetism is called the magnetization. The magnetization is also called as the magnetic moment per unit volume of the material. The magnetic force anywhere in space of magnetic field is described by a vector field .It is also called the magnetic induction. Presumably, low self-esteem leads to him believing that Falstaff will succeed in seducing his wife, also a shameful lack of belief in his wife’s loyalty to him. Ford even decides to disguise himself as ‘Brooke’ to find out from Falstaff how his wife has been responding to his advances. Of course, Falstaff informs him that his wife has arranged to meet Falstaff secretly which enrages Ford further believing that his wife is being unfaithful. He eventually comes to understand the truth and gains more respect for his wife in that she orchestrates the humiliation and downfall of Falstaff and thus proving her loyalty to him as her husband. He is made to feel a little silly for not believing in her. Page Page is a much easier going character than Ford and does not believe that his wife will be seduced by Falstaff – this shows that he has faith in his wife and shows their relationship to be much more secure. However, he does not listen to his daughter about who she is in love with and is finally taught a lesson by her. Anne Page Anne is Mistress Page and Page’s daughter. She has an array of unworthy suitors including Caius and Slender who her parents favor but Anne is in love with Fenton. She eventually elopes with Fenton and turns up with him to show her parents up and demonstrate that true love is more important. Sir Hugh Evans Sir Hugh is a Welsh Clergyman and much merriment is made about his accent. Sir Hugh Evans and Caius finally group together to humiliate the Host who has made fools of them. Caius Mistress Quickly’s Master and the local Doctor. He is French and like Hugh Evans is mocked for his accent. Leigh Anne makes it her personal mission to make sure Michael has everything he needs emotionally and academically to graduate from high school and to get admitted to Ole Miss. After a successful college football campaign, Oher was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round in 2009, thus fulfilling his dream. This movie has it all. As you watch it, you experience the emotions of both sadness and joy, as you watch this young man go from being homeless to being drafted in the first round of the 2009 NFL draft. One of the saddest parts of the film is where Leigh Anne goes looking for Oher’s mother. You are able to see the awful environment in which he has grown up, including drugs and filth. On the other hand, one of the happiest scenes in the film is when Leigh Anne is having a meal with some of her wealthy white lady friends. They are discussing the possible adoption of Oher by the Tuohy family. One of the women remarks that Leigh Anne should really be concerned about the welfare of her beautiful, white daughter Collins. Leigh Anne tells the women they should be ashamed of themselves for thinking that way. There are also many scenes that will have you laughing. For instance, in one game scene, Oher blocks an opposing team’s player clear off the field. After the whistle, Oher says, â€Å"Sorry, Coach. I stopped when I heard the whistle. † The coach asks where Oher was taking the opposing player. Oher responds, â€Å"The bus. It was time for him to go home. † In that same game, the referee throws a flag on Oher. The coach asks why he threw the flag. The referee responds, â€Å"excessive blocking. † The sacrifices that the Tuohy family was willing to make for a complete stranger are inspiring. Sandra Bullock received an Oscar for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy. Other actors you may recognize in the film include Kathy Bates as Miss Sue and country singer Tim McGraw as Sean Tuohy. This movie was nominated for Best Picture at the 82nd annual Academy Awards, but lost to â€Å"The Hurt Locker†. I haven’t seen â€Å"The Hurt Locker†, but having seen â€Å"The Blind Side†, I find it hard to believe there was a better film released in 2009. It is our duty to ensure that children are safe and protected from harm whilst within our care and we have policies and procedures in place to promote safe working practices and a clear understanding of what to do if abuse is suspected or disclosed. Our underpinning principles are that the welfare of the child is paramount.All children without exception have the right to protection from abuse regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, sexuality or beliefs. We are responsible for our own actions and behaviour and should avoid any conduct, which would lead any reasonable person to question their motivation and intentions. We have received current child protection training and we have been made aware of possible symptoms of children at risk and are aware of their responsibility to report concerns acco rding to the Child Protection Procedures, a copy of which is kept on the premises.Concerns must be kept confidential to as few people who need to know. We must work, and be seen to work in an open and transparent way and records are always to be made of any incident, and of decisions made and further actions agreed. All mothers face times when separation would benefit their child, but the safety and dangers that may be confronted, form a barrier for this dependency. The struggle faced in this maternal relationship, hold powerful emotions and deep-felt feelings From the hearts pool. The poem introduces a personal quality with the title Catrin but is then not mentioned again throughout the poem. This can be represented as a very personal relationship that does not have the need to direct but contain an unmentioned bond. However it could also resemble a relationship between any particular mother and child, giving the poem a sense of universality. The language used is simple and recognisable, which indicates the simple sincere emotions that are intended to be conveyed through the poem. The poems structure is two unbalanced stanzas, both performed in the past and present; an emphasis of how the relationship is still as intense from birth. A similar relationship based on a father: son bond is Heaneys Follower where Heaney both literally and metaphorically followed his father. The basic six stanza poem represent a clear division between father and son; three stanzas each. Heaney states how he imitates his father, following in his fathers footsteps, enhancing the biological bond and respect Heaney has for his father. Also, throughout the poem, the correct agricultural language can be found, highlighting the need Heaney felt to praise his father with respect as well as knowledge of his profession, and the future Heaney longed to pursue. The mother and child maternal bond can be perceived in Clarkes poem, Baby-sitting. Here, a non-biological bond of the strengths and adoration of a natural mother and child bond is shown to be instinctive between the characters but has occurred naturally and the anxiety Clarke feels towards another child she does not know. To be enchanted by your own babys breathe is a natural and maternal sentiment however, Clarke describes that there will be no chemistry or familiarity between them. The finality of this poem can be seen as indefinite for it suggests both literally that no milk will come but also a metaphor of how the motherly milk-familiar comforting, the connection will not come therefore she cannot totally provide for the child. The feeling of adoration between relations, friendships and subjects is described through many of the Clarke and Heaney poems studied. In Heaneys poem Follower, utter adoration and admiration is portrayed through Heaneys ability to use correct agricultural lexis of ploughing terms such as wing and sock. Heaney describes how both literally and metaphorically he followed his father. Heaney states he recalls his admiration for his father and using contrast to note how the young Heaney wanted to grow up and plough. To compare, Heaneys Death of a Naturalist represents his attitudes to the natural world in his childhood and his interest and appreciation towards nature, enhancing a passion inside him yearning for a great future. He receives encouragement from his teacher supporting and educating him on the subject of nature which he so fondly adores. Therefore in return he gives Miss Walls respect and esteem whilst quoting her on the knowledge learnt. Heaney wrote this poem with confidence, explaining with knowledge the process of how he took the frogspawn, placed them in jam pots and observed nature taking its toll. By using vocabulary to describe the pleasant as well as objectionable things such as festered, rotted, slobber, and slime kings shows young Heaney felt comfortable seeing nature close up, but perhaps he didnt fully understand the flaws in nature, as referring to reproduction focused on the mammy and daddy frog. Heaney accounts for his adventurous, inspirational but flawed childhood; this is in contrast to Clarkes more motherly approach to her somewhat misfortunate adulthood. Her Baby-sitting account resembles how her maternal relationship with the child is much stronger than any other could be. Even though to some extent the mentioned child disgusts her, Clarke introduces qualities that depict an ideal infant as pretty and appealing, roseate and bubbling and fair. However, she uses a statement foreshadowing quite a selfish outlook and to some degree insulting, when depicting the child of a perfectly acceptable child. Clarkes poem has no obvious metre, using short lines and limited use of metaphors and stresses. Baby-sitting can be seen to portray a specific event which anyone can relate to, but to explore a key difference between a motherly concern for another and a powerful, instinctive reaction to an unfamiliar happening. A relationship can be strong and well-built on a connection or a familiar bond correlating between the two. A relationship may last only for a moment, days, months, years or even last a life-time. Nevertheless, to become separate is to become distant from one another and through these poems, it can be found as a tangible bond that must be cut a tight red rope of love, or just be by age or differences which divide the two. Throughout Catrin, the struggle of separation, to be two is seen flowing fluid through each line however; there is no cause for the separation. Through birth and through time, the mother and child fight over the tight red rope if love and still, to prevent the distance between the two ever causing complete partition, she states she still fights, for the love is still as intense from birth. Within the poem, oddments of independence begin, but the old rope will surely keep them safe. However, a relationship may never truly fortify as neither one nor the other will love. Clarkes Baby-sitting explores an event that could belong to anyone. It depicts a strong need for replacement or a substitute, which can cause grief and a failure to enchantment. The opening of the poem explicates simply of the situation, however describing the baby as wrong. The baby can surely not be blamed but for Clarkes immediate assumptions, she fears what will shortly awake. She is scared to be hated by this child, to fear the hot midnight rage. The babys running nose will disgust her and the babys perfume of breath is purely a comparison against her own babys breath, whose does enchant her. The second stanza introduces the thought of abandonment. However, this separation, this desertion or rejection of the baby is depicted as far worse than that of the lover cold in lonely sheet.
